The Blue Hearts is a punk rock band. They made their major debut in 1987 with Linda Linda. They are regarded as legends, and many later Japanese bands and famous figures have openly stated that they were strongly influenced by The Blue Hearts.
Incidentally, while many musicians in Japan work with indie labels, since the late 1980s, indie labels have often served as a stepping stone to transitioning to major labels. Releasing records under a major label is generally considered the official debut of a professional artist.

“dobunezumi” refers to a type of rat, but “どぶ / dobu” means sewer, giving the phrase a strong derogatory tone.

When asked who “Linda” is, Hiroto Kōmoto, the lyricist, said, “I don’t know either. There’s no answer. It’s not written in the lyric sheet, so feel free to sing it however you like.”

This song is one of the most popular songs by The Blue Hearts. The 2008 Japanese movie Linda Linda Linda is about a high school girls’ band performing The Blue Hearts’ songs.
